Many pupils have chosen to stay on at Bishop Bell for their post 16 studies.

Here at Bishop Bell we offer 3 different post 16 courses.

·         Early years

·         IT System Support

·       ICT & Business

 

Pupils chose to stay on at Bishop Bell for many reasons:

 

·         Are you concerned about the move to college?

o   Many pupils prefer a familiar environment to continue their studies

o   They feel secure with teachers they already know

o   Worry that they won’t continue to receive the support they have received during their KS4

·         Are you more suited to a practically grounded ‘A’ Level qualification?

o   Many pupils prefer to learn by doing rather than doing exams

o   By studying 2 days per week and working 3 days per week pupils have an opportunity to put their subject knowledge into practice

·         Would you like to earn a small income?

o   All our trainees have employee status that means they are no longer pupils but Bishop Bell staff

o   All our trainees receive a small income of £45 per week

o   Some trainees receive £65 per week

·         Not sure what you would like to do after your ‘A’ Level qualification?

o   All our trainees study towards ‘A’ Level qualifications that offers an opportunity for our trainees to go on to university

o   All our trainees study towards a level 3 QCF (old NVQ) qualification which employers recognise as proof of practical skills in their subject area.

o   All our trainees can boast 2 years working experience within their chosen discipline when applying for employment 

 

So what is it Bishop Bell offers?

Bishop Bell offers all our Post-16 Trainees:

·         High quality, personalised, workplace-linked, training

·         A training allowance of £45 per week

·         ‘A’ level practical qualification

·         A QCF  Level 2 & Advanced QCF Level 3

·         Key Skills, if needed

·         Two days-a-week study

·         16 hours-a-week workplace training within the area of your study

·         Based in our purpose-built Post-16 Training Centre

·         Post-16 common room with networked PCs

·         Continuation of the high quality support offered in school

·         Possible job opportunity at the end

·         Or a qualification that lets you go into higher education

All our Post-16 trainees study towards an Advanced Apprentice

·         This is a two year course

·         Trainees study 2 full days per week (8:40 – 4:30)

·         Trainees are expected to work 16 hours-a-week within the area of study

·         Level 3 Technical Certificate (‘A’ Level qualification)

o   BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT

o   BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT (Business)

o   CACHE Level 3 Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma

·         QCF level 2 in year 1 and QCF level 3 in year 2

·         Key Skill, if needed, in English/Maths/ICT
